First of all, I would like to thank my Mother-In-Law for hosting my first "real" Tupperware party as a consultant. The first one I don't count because it was at my house, with my guest list and my manager was with me the whole time. This time, I was on my own (read: EEK!). Well, not completely. My manager was just a text away but surprisingly I didn't need her -- phew!
I must say, I was very surprised that we could get that many people in their condo! I wasn't at all overwhelmed by the number of guests or their questions because they really were all there because they loved the product! What was funny, however, is that almost everyone owned it and yet hadn't been to a party in 20+ years! So it was great to talk about the new things and some old favourites. I broke the ice by going around the room and asking what everyone's favourite piece was and when the last time they went to a party was. That was very enlightening.
Of course, I got some more warranty items and I must say that this makes me happy. Number one, because I love to see everyone's faces when I hand them back brand new Tupperware pieces on items they may have bought before I was born. Number two - it's all about customer service. Guest A brings back a piece they have been using for years with a cracked lid and I, with a smile on my face, take the piece and replace it with a brand new lid that fits perfectly. Guest A now tells all her friends at their weekly coffee group what a wonderful company Tupperware is to stand by their warranty. And bam -- more potential guests are jumping back on the Tupperware bandwagon once again. But I'll go into the warranties in more detail on a different post.
My MIL really didn't want to have a game; she really wanted more of an open house feel to the evening. So guests were welcomed with punch, a catalogue, and a little trinket from me with my business card attached. A little while into the party I asked everyone to look on the back of the business cards and if they had a star on them, they got a free gift from me. So -- mission accomplished. I was able to give away free product without having a game.
So my focus stayed on the products currently on sale in the
August 2 brochure (FreezerMates set, Fresh N Cool set) as well as items that I knew the customer base would be interested in (
Vent N Serves,
Fridgesmarts). And from there, I just let them ask me questions about the different products -- and wow, where there a lot of questions. But I was able to answer them confidently and with authority as I am a strong advocate for the product. A lot of people were concerned with the presence of BPA in a lot of commercial plastics and I was VERY happy to tell them that Tupperware is BPA free, which was a key selling feature for me having 2 small children.
All in all, it wa a great night! The last guest was out after 2.5 hours, which is a pretty good accomplishment given the number of guests my MIL got to her first party in their new place. Now I can't wait for the big Tupperware boxes to arrive on my doorstep because those days always feel like Christmas!
