I'm going to make you smart .... FridgeSmart

We just finished up a big sale on the Tupperware FridgeSmart 4-piece set and WOW did it go over well.  I have come to love these products over the past year since I got my first piece and I can see now that I am not the only one!  The users of these products can sell them for you if you just listen to how they rave about the freshness of their fruits and veggies.
People love to save money and stats show that these containers pay for themselves 4 times in the first year due to the amount of food you save!

I wanted to provide some tips regarding the FridgeSmarts in order to ensure that you get the most out of the product:

FridgeSmart Containers like it naked and dirty

Yep, you heard me right -- naked and dirty.  But what I mean by that is that when you bring your produce home from the market or store, take it out of the bag and put it right in your container.  Don't wash it until you use it.  Excess moisture will cause your produce to rot.

Use the correct venting requirements.

What makes the FridgeSmarts work so well are the vents. (If you are unfamiliar, you open or close one, two, or both vents in the containers based on how much a product "breathes").

Here is the chart that you want to print off and put on your fridge: http://goo.gl/vkvVE

Feel free to combine veggies in one container but be sure that they have the same venting requirements in order to achieve the best result.

Say Cheese!

You will want to keep both vents open when storing cheese in your fridge. You can keep cheese in its original package if you wish but please wash off the outside of the plastic -- do you know that it will touch 9 hands from the factory to your fridge?

If you like stronger (aka stinky) chesses, I would suggest storing them in a separate container than your more milder cheeses like Cheddar and Mozzarella just to be on the safe side and not to offend the people in your house who might not like the stinky cheese

We all know that mold on our cheese can be an issue. There are a couple of ways to combat that with your FridgeSmarts. Placing a cotton swab dipped in vinegar at the back of the container will collect any mold that will grow inside and keeping your cheese fresh. Or, when you clean your containers, rinse them out with a vinegar and water solution. The addition of vinegar into the water reduces the pH within the container, preventing mold from growing. (FYI: This trick works with your fruits! Before placing them in your FridgeSmarts, give them a quick rinse with a bowl full of 10 parts water and 1 part vinegar. This will stop mold from growing on the fruit and spreading to the others in the container.)

I hope that you enjoy these wonderful containers -- FridgeSmart will change the way that you store your fruits and veggies to the point where you forget what your crisper was for!

Tupperware Party Game: Family Feud

One game I like to play if there is over 10 guests and an even number is the Family Feud.  Split the room in half and give a noise-making object to a member of each team.  You will ask the question and the guests will try to guess the number one answer.  The person who shakes their noise-making object first (I used a tamborine and a baby rattle) gets to answer first.  A point goes to the team that correctly guesses the number one answer.  The noise-making object then gets moved down the line to the next guests on the teams and they will face-off.

I usually go through the teams twice depending on the number of guests per team.  It is great when they get really enthusiastic and start jumping up and down.

A good twist to the game is to ask the Tupperware Party Host what her answers to the questions are and the guests have to correctly answer what the Host responded with.  It lets you know who well they know their Host and is always good for a few laughs.

I usually give each member of the winning team (them team with the most points at the end) a Snack Cup as a prize.

Here is a list of some of the questions you could ask:

1. Name a food that makes a lot of noise

2. Name a cartoon character

3. Name something a clown wears

4. Name something that you use to clean your teeth

5. Name a magazine with one title

6. Name a football player

7. Name something a kid wears in the winter

8. Name a popular month for a vacation

9. Name a type of cookie

10. Name something people do on a plane

11. Name a type of pizza

12. Name an actor whose first name is Tom

13. Name a woman comedian

14. Name an expensive car

15. Name an animal in the zoo
1. Carrot

2. Mickey Mouse

3. Red Nose

4. Toothpaste

5. People

6. Joe Montana

7. Mittens

8. July

9. Chocolate Chip

10. Eat

11. Pepperoni

12. Cruise

13. Roseanna Barr

14. Corvette

15. Lion

Mabel's Labels for Back to School

It's almost time for back to school and both parents and children are counting down the days! Not sure how you organize all your kiddie's stuff (and we all know that they have A LOT of stuff) but I LOVE Mabel's Labels. Identify clothes, footwear, books, backpacks and more.

I have a set of the original Multi-color Sticky Labels for Jack's things but I just saw that new Write Away labels and think that I'm going to have to get me some of those! I can write whatever I want on them and not just his name so I can use it for so much more than before!

Right now when you spend $100 you will receive a free package of Write Away labels now through August 31. Enjoy!

My Tupperware Morning

This morning I decided to have some oatmeal -- instant, of course, due to time constraints. So, I opened the package and poured it into my CrystalWave Soup Mug. It calls for 2/3 Cup of Water and I can't find my 1/3 C measuring cup but there is no need to worry because my Tupperware Measuring Cups include a 2/3 C option! I pop the Mug in the microwave and my breakfast is started!

My son LOVES Cheerios. They must be regular Cheerios and NOT Honey Nut because, apparently, they make his hands sticky. So I pour his Cheerios out of the Super Cereal Storer, which has an airtight seal stopping the cereal from getting stale because believe me, he notices and into his Cereal Bowl. I make sure I put it in this cereal bowl because he happens to be the world's slowest eater and I am sure that he won't be done his breakfast by the time we have to be out the door so I can just pop the lid on and we can take it with us where we have to go.

It is also for that reason that I pour his milk in the Bell Tumblers (he drinks his milk on the side of his cereal rather than pouring it in the bowl most of the time). This way, he can still drink out of a "Big Boy Cup" but I can pop the sipper lid on the Bell Tumbler if he hasn't had a chance to finish his drink before we leave and I don't worry about spills in the car.

Now, I get my daytime snacks ready to take with me to work and for those I definately use the Snack Cup or the Ideal Lit'l Bowl Set because they are both just the right size for a snack, whether it be grapes, Goldfish crackers, or some leftover Kettle Corn from the last fair we were at.

I pour my coffee into my Commuter Mug (because it keeps it warm for well over an hour which is helpful because I rarely have time to drink it until I get settled into work for the day) and we are out the door.  That is, until I realize that I forgot something and have to run back in to grab it.

Second Party = FANTASTIC SUCCESS

First of all, I would like to thank my Mother-In-Law for hosting my first "real" Tupperware party as a consultant. The first one I don't count because it was at my house, with my guest list and my manager was with me the whole time. This time, I was on my own (read: EEK!). Well, not completely. My manager was just a text away but surprisingly I didn't need her -- phew!

I must say, I was very surprised that we could get that many people in their condo! I wasn't at all overwhelmed by the number of guests or their questions because they really were all there because they loved the product! What was funny, however, is that almost everyone owned it and yet hadn't been to a party in 20+ years! So it was great to talk about the new things and some old favourites. I broke the ice by going around the room and asking what everyone's favourite piece was and when the last time they went to a party was. That was very enlightening.

Of course, I got some more warranty items and I must say that this makes me happy. Number one, because I love to see everyone's faces when I hand them back brand new Tupperware pieces on items they may have bought before I was born. Number two - it's all about customer service. Guest A brings back a piece they have been using for years with a cracked lid and I, with a smile on my face, take the piece and replace it with a brand new lid that fits perfectly. Guest A now tells all her friends at their weekly coffee group what a wonderful company Tupperware is to stand by their warranty. And bam -- more potential guests are jumping back on the Tupperware bandwagon once again. But I'll go into the warranties in more detail on a different post.

My MIL really didn't want to have a game; she really wanted more of an open house feel to the evening. So guests were welcomed with punch, a catalogue, and a little trinket from me with my business card attached. A little while into the party I asked everyone to look on the back of the business cards and if they had a star on them, they got a free gift from me. So -- mission accomplished. I was able to give away free product without having a game.

So my focus stayed on the products currently on sale in the August 2 brochure (FreezerMates set, Fresh N Cool set) as well as items that I knew the customer base would be interested in (Vent N Serves, Fridgesmarts). And from there, I just let them ask me questions about the different products -- and wow, where there a lot of questions. But I was able to answer them confidently and with authority as I am a strong advocate for the product. A lot of people were concerned with the presence of BPA in a lot of commercial plastics and I was VERY happy to tell them that Tupperware is BPA free, which was a key selling feature for me having 2 small children.

All in all, it wa a great night! The last guest was out after 2.5 hours, which is a pretty good accomplishment given the number of guests my MIL got to her first party in their new place. Now I can't wait for the big Tupperware boxes to arrive on my doorstep because those days always feel like Christmas!

Personalize Your Pieces

You are well aware that you are not the only person that buys Tupperware, so why not put your own special touch on them?  A friend of mine just purchased the Sandwich Keepers as a gift but enlisted the help of Wilkinsigns to add some feminine flair that really made the gift.

This should hopefully ensure that your son/daughter's Sandwich Keeper doesn't end up in the hands of another youngster by mistake but it can't guarantee that it won't accidentally get thrown out with the browned banana peel and discarded sandwich crusts.

Check out Wall + Words = Wilkinsigns Etsy Shop.  She does beautiful work!

My First Party = SUCCESS

So I had my first party last night and must say that it was a complete success! The sun was out and the heat was low which made it a beautiful night to sit poolside and talk about some Tupperware.

I must admit that a little pang of nervousness hit right before my guests arrived but that quickly faded once they started coming in and browsing the catalogs. I had wanted to make it more of an Open House format but given that it was a small number of guests (10 total) I was able to individually answer questions and give brief explanations of some of the items currently on sale.

Each guest walked away with a small token of my appreciation for coming and the winning members of Family Feud Team #1 all went home with a snack cup, one of my all-time favourite Tupperware products.

Seeing as I was the actual "host" of the party as well, I wanted to give away some of the goodies that hosts can actually get when they have their own party. Frances' breath mints in her purse won her the watermelon special addition tumblers and bucket while Lila's Kleenex still in a package (my sister was mad that I wouldn't count all of her Kleenex that were strewned about her purse) won her 1/2 price on an item in the regular catalog.

All in all I would say the party went off without a hitch really. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun -- I hope my guests did as well. They were in and out in under 2 hours and everyone left with a little something from me for FREE, which is always a nice bonus, and a smile on their face. Mission Completed.

I decided that if I blog about a party, I would put down some of the particulars in order to show potential hosts all the free product and great benefits they can get for hosting their party and to help out other consultants as well when they plan their parties.
